Macron urges Iran to stop supporting Russia's war in Ukraine
French President Emmanuel Macron addressed Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, urging him to stop supporting Russia in its war against Ukraine. This was reported by Le Figaro, citing the Élysée Palace.
"The President of the Republic warned against the continuation of support from Tehran for Russia's aggressive war in Ukraine," reads the press release from Élysée Palaces following a telephone conversation between the two leaders.
Macron also emphasized that Iran must stop supporting destabilizing players, thereby preventing the escalation of relations between Israel and Lebanon. He expressed his concern about the growing tension in the region after the Hezbollah attack and stressed that a new war would have negative consequences.
Macron noted that France is ready to work with the new Iranian president to resolve all conflicts and ensure security and stability. However, he stressed that Iran must stop its nuclear program and comply with international requirements.
