Application of Changes to the International War Damage Register

Deputy Head of the President's Office Iryna Mudra called on partners to rectify a key flaw in the International War Damage Register by including victims up to 2022. She stated this at the United for Justice conference. United for Survivors, reports Ukrinform.

'We must immediately correct the key flaw in the International War Damage Register. The issue is the Time frame that excludes war victims until 2022. This is unjust. We cannot explain to our citizens who lost their loved ones in 2014-2015 why their suffering is not as important. We call on our partners to consider changes, especially as we advance in negotiations on the Claims Review Commission' - said Mudra.

The Deputy Head of the President's Office added that Ukraine plans to finalize negotiations on the Claims Review Commission by the end of the year so that it can operate in 2026.

Analysis

Making changes to the International War Damage Register is a step towards ensuring greater justice for those affected by the conflict. Expanding the time frame to 2022 will allow for the inclusion of all victims who suffered during different periods of the war. Joint efforts of partners in this matter are essential for improving conditions for conflict participants and their families.
