Zelensky voiced ambitious goals for the defense industry - what the president assigned.

The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky stated that the Ukrainian weapons in the Armed Forces should significantly increase to 50% thanks to the increase in domestic production. He plans to achieve this goal within the next six months.

The president stated this during the of Defense Denys Shmyhal on Monday, July 21.

Zelensky emphasized his ambitious plans to increase Ukrainian weapons in the army to 50% in the near future. He assured that this is possible thanks to the active development of the domestic defense industry.

'People must see that Ukraine has its own missiles', the head of state emphasized, adding that this goal is quite achievable.

Currently, special attention is being paid to contracting interceptor drones. Zelensky reported that some agreements have already been concluded, while the rest are in the stage of coordination. It is planned that all necessary drones will be purchased in the near future.

In addition, the president emphasized the importance of increasing the frequency and range of the use of Ukrainian drones to strike Russian targets. This task has been assigned to the Ministry of Defense, which has received the corresponding order.

Expanding the arsenal

Earlier, President Volodymyr Zelensky outlined the first tasks for the Ministry of Defense under the leadership of Denys Shmyhal.

The Minister of Defense of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal also noted the importance of American Abrams tanks for strengthening the country's defense capabilities. He emphasized that this is a significant contribution to improving the combat readiness of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in preventing Russian aggression.

The Ukrainian authorities are actively planning to increase the production and use of domestic weapons to strengthen the country's defense capabilities, improve military-technical potential, and ensure national security.
