Zelensky announced the start of a ceasefire with Russia.

The start of a ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia
The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, announced that the establishment of a ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia is set to begin on Monday, May 12. He made this announcement during a press conference following a meeting of the 'Coalition of the Resolute'.
According to Zelensky, if Russia does not agree to a complete and unconditional ceasefire, it will face new sanctions. The President stated: 'We agreed that starting from Monday, May 12, a complete and unconditional ceasefire must begin for at least 30 days. We demand this from Russia together, and we know that the United States of America supports us in this regard.'
At the same Time, the Ukrainian leader emphasized: 'an unconditional ceasefire means 'without any conditions'. Attempting to impose any conditions indicates an intention to continue the war and complicate diplomacy.'
Complete ceasefire and monitoring
Zelensky also noted that the ceasefire must be comprehensive - in the air, at sea, and on land. He expressed confidence that monitoring compliance with the ceasefire could be organized in cooperation with the United States of America. The President pointed out: 'The ceasefire should last for 30 days to create real conditions for diplomacy. This time will be aimed at establishing the foundations for peace - security, political, and humanitarian.'
The Ukrainian president expressed satisfaction that all countries (including the USA) support the call for a ceasefire and a shift to diplomacy. Zelensky also reminded of the support for the initiative expressed back on March 11 during a meeting in Saudi Arabia.
Regarding strengthening Ukraine's defense, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer supported Zelensky's proposal for a ceasefire and stated the possibility of increasing military support for Ukraine in case Russia does not agree.
