Fierce battles for Vovchansk. British intelligence predicted the success of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Source: Ukraine has narrowed the capabilities of Russian troops in the Vovchansk area of the Kharkiv region. This is likely to help Ukrainian forces launch a counteroffensive north of the city. This is stated in a new report by the British Ministry of Defense intelligence.
What happened: Scientists reminded that the battles near Vovchansk have been ongoing since May 2024. At that Time, Russian occupiers launched an offensive operation in the Kharkiv region, likely to create a "buffer zone" to deter and mitigate any Ukrainian attacks in the Belgorod area.
What it means: According to experts, this has led to Vovchansk (which is located 5 km south of the Ukraine-Russia border) becoming a city with fierce battles, with both sides trying to oust each other from this territory.
What was the reaction: At the end of September 2024, the Armed Forces of Ukraine managed to retake and clear the Vovchansk aggregate plant, which was an important point for Russia and allowed the occupiers to conduct tactical operations on the Vovcha River.
What is happening now: Experts believe that the loss of the Vovchansk aggregate plant will limit the capabilities of Russian ground forces to advance in the Kharkiv region. It is likely that Ukrainian control over the plant will facilitate further counteroffensives north of the city, aiming to push Russian troops towards the Ukraine-Russia border, concluded British intelligence.
