Return of children to Ukraine from occupied territories
Eight children, who were in occupied territories, returned to Ukraine, reported the Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada for Human Rights Dmytro Lubinets. These children were separated from their relatives due to military actions and occupation, and some of them lost their parents. They were returned from Luhansk, Zaporizhia, and Kherson regions.
One woman, who could not see her sons due to their unlawful detention and sentencing in the temporarily occupied territory, finally had the opportunity to meet with them. Their grandmother had been caring for the children for a long Time.
Children who remained in temporarily occupied territories face significant difficulties in education. According to recent data, approximately 600 thousand children are currently in such regions, but only 7% of them receive education in Ukrainian schools online, while the rest study according to Russian standards. Many children study simultaneously in two education systems.
The unavailability of quality teachers in the occupied territories is another obstacle to proper education. Most parents refuse to send their children to schools that use Russian propaganda programs.
