The container ship 'Amnah' capsized in the port of Ambarli, Turkey. The crew of the vessel has been evacuated, reports CNN Türk.
The cargo ship 'Amnah' tilted due to load imbalance. 10 out of 15 crew members were rescued by port teams. 5 individuals who decided to jump into the sea made it to port on their own. Only one person suffered minor injuries and was taken to the hospital.
The Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of Turkey reported that port workers have set up a floating barrier around the vessel.
This accident occurred at the Mardash terminal, which is one of the main container terminals of the Ambarli port – one of the largest ports in Turkey.
According to Marine Traffic, the container ship 'Amnah' departed from the port of Derindje on the morning of December 22 and arrived at Ambarli port after 7.5 hours.
