Ukrenergo updated the power outage schedule for August 21.

The company Ukrenergo updated information on planned power outages for August 21, 2024. According to the message, today from 15:30 to 18:00 and from 22:00 to 24:00 one stage of outages will be carried out. From 18:00 to 22:00, two stages of outages will be applied simultaneously. The power supply to critical infrastructure facilities will not be limited.
Ukrenergo also noted an increase in electricity consumption due to the heat. As of 9:30 on August 21, the consumption level was 1.1% higher than the previous day. Yesterday, August 20, the maximum consumption was 2.2% higher than on Monday, August 19, which is almost equal to the capacity of one unit of a large thermal power plant.
Capacity deficit
The energy system of Ukraine is still recovering after eight massive cyberattacks from Russia. Due to the capacity deficit, from 16:00 to 24:00, restrictive measures will be introduced on electricity consumption for all consumers except critical infrastructure and enterprises that pay over 80% of electricity imports for their needs.
During the day, electricity is imported from Romania, Slovakia, Hungary, and Moldova with a total volume of 19,988 MWh, with a maximum capacity of up to 1,212 MW at certain hours. No electricity exports are taking place and none are planned.
Due to hostilities and other reasons, electricity is fully or partially absent in 520 settlements. In particular, due to the weather effects, 24 settlements in the Ternopil region remain without electricity in the morning. There are also outages in the Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, Sumy, Kharkiv, and Kherson regions.
