Ukrainian soldiers captured citizens of Togo who fought for Russia.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and Togolese Affairs reported the detention of Togo citizens by Ukrainian soldiers. According to the Togo Ministry of Foreign Affairs, most of the citizens, especially young students, left their country under scholarships offered by organizations that present themselves as Russian.
The ministry urges citizens, especially youth dreaming of studying abroad, to be cautious. They call for verifying the authenticity of scholarship offers before making any commitments and to contact competent authorities or the Ministry of Higher Education and Research to obtain reliable information before departing abroad, especially to Russia.
The ministry also reports that it is actively cooperating with diplomatic partners to uncover the situation and provide assistance to those affected.
Ukrainian soldiers detained an African mercenary and two Chinese citizens who were involved in combat actions alongside the Russian army in the Donetsk region. The operation was carried out by fighters from various brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
One of the captives, a 21-year-old Tajik, spoke about his past as a cyber athlete and medical student, but due to his detention, he was forced to sign a contract with the occupants.
