Ukraine faces water shortage: abnormal winter will create problems in summer.

Ukraine may witness water scarcity during the summer due to an unusually warm winter. This information was provided by Vera Balabukh, head of the department of applied meteorology and climatology of the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Institute of the Emergency Situations Service.
Instead of snow cover, groundwater is not receiving airborne replenishment. As a result, there may be a water shortage in the summer period.
The precipitation falling at temperatures around zero degrees leads to ice and the accumulation of wet snow, which will bring significant troubles.
The absence of snow cover will affect the groundwater levels and overall water reserves, which will become significantly smaller, potentially leading to hydrological drought and water deficit in the summer period.
In recent years, the winter months have become more reminiscent of spring, while the traditional winter has almost completely changed to a pre-spring period. Cold days are still possible, but they are now particularly dangerous for plant growth.
According to Balabukh, the air temperature in winter and summer is not related. Therefore, it is impossible to say that a warm winter will lead to a hot summer.
Recently, the forecaster warned of frosts and strong winds.
