The USA and Canada have started negotiations regarding the Arctic border, which may be rich in oil. This happened due to the growing presence of Russia and China in the region.
A joint working group has been established to conduct negotiations regarding the Beaufort Sea borders.
The USA and Canada are claiming the seabed north of Alaska, Yukon, and the Northwest Territories, where they assert there are significant oil reserves.
In recent years, due to climate change, the Arctic has become more accessible and is attracting increasing attention from Russia and China.
