Russia is preparing to attack the southern part of the Zaporizhia region and is sending assault groups there. This was reported by the spokesperson of the Southern Defense Forces Vladyslav Voloshyn.
'(Storms - ed.) may start in the nearest future, we are not even talking about weeks, we expect it to happen any day now,' - Voloshyn said in a comment to Reuters, Ukrinform reports.
According to him, it is unknown whether it will be one major offensive or separate storms. But Russian troops plan to use armored vehicles and drones, the spokesperson notes.
'They are preparing both armored groups and light vehicles - buggies, motorcycles - for these assault operations,' Voloshyn added.
Also, Russia has already conducted reconnaissance and increased air strikes in the south by about 30-40% over the last two to three weeks, using bombers and unguided rockets.
