Missile Attack on Ukraine: How Many Missiles and Drones Were Shot Down by Air Defense Forces.


Russian occupiers launched a missile strike on Kyiv, Sumy, and Kharkiv regions
On the night of September 2, 2024, Russian occupiers attacked Kyiv, Sumy, and Kharkiv regions using ballistic, cruise, and surface-to-air guided missiles. Strikes were also carried out by Shahed-type attack drones from the southern direction. This was reported by the Air Force of Ukraine.
It is reported that the Air Force detected and tracked 58 aerial targets:
- 16 Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles from various regions of Russia;
- 14 Kh-101 cruise missiles from Tu-95MS aircraft from the Volgograd region of Russia;
- four S-300/S-400 surface-to-air guided missiles from the Belgorod region of Russia;
- one unidentified type of missile also from the Belgorod region of Russia;
- 23 Shahed-131/136 attack drones from Primorsko-Akhtarsk, Russia.
As a result of operations by the Air Force and the defense forces of Ukraine, the following were destroyed:
- nine Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles;
- 13 Kh-101 cruise missiles;
- 20 Shahed-131/136 attack drones.
Also, due to the active resistance of Ukrainian forces, one Kh-101 cruise missile and three attack drones did not cause damage and were lost. Information is being clarified.
The attack took place in Kyiv, Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Poltava, Mykolaiv, and Zaporizhzhia regions.
