Sibiga Responds to Russia's Statement

The Foreign Minister of Ukraine, Andrij Sibiga, stated that Russia should cease fire immediately if it truly wants peace. He proposed to stop all hostilities immediately and for 30 days. Sibiga emphasized that Ukraine is always ready to support a permanent and reliable ceasefire.

'If Russia really wants peace, it must cease fire immediately. Why wait for May 8? If fire can be stopped now from the desired date and for 30 days - so that it is realistic and not just for the parade,' Sibiga wrote in his official statement.

Previously, Vladimir Putin announced a 'ceasefire' during the celebrations of the 'Victory Day'. According to a statement from the Kremlin, Russia plans to stop firing from May 7 to May 8 until May 10 to May 11. However, Sibiga demands that Russia cease fire now immediately and not wait until the holidays in May.

Russia is also demanding that Ukraine join this ceasefire and states that it will respond 'appropriately and effectively' in case of a violation. The Kremlin claims it is ready for peaceful negotiations without preconditions but demands that Ukraine take certain measures.

'Kiev must take certain measures in this case. There is a legal prohibition. So far, we see no measures,' explained Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov.

It is noteworthy that this is not the first Time Putin has declared a ceasefire, but Russian attacks continue unabated. Ukraine will celebrate the Day of Remembrance and Victory over National Socialism on May 8, and May 9 will be celebrated as Europe Day.
