NATO declared second level of danger at its airbase in Germany.

At the NATO airbase in Geilenkirchen, a "Charlie" level of danger was declared due to a potential threat. As a precautionary measure, all non-essential personnel were sent home. This information was obtained from intelligence, but details have not been disclosed. According to NATO's definition, "Charlie" level means that an incident may occur or there is evidence of a terrorist threat against the Alliance. While a base spokesperson stated that this is a precautionary measure, the police were also involved in the response. At the mentioned airbase, the flying "Airborne Warning and Control System" Awacs is stationed, which provides airspace monitoring and is used for controlling fighter jets. This system has already been deployed in numerous operations and has a range of more than 9,000 kilometers.
