Financial support after the birth of a child - what changes the government is introducing

In July 2025, the government plans to approve a law on assistance to families before and after the birth of a child. In particular:

  • the amount of a one-Time payment for women after childbirth will be 50 thousand hryvnias;
  • women without work experience are planned to receive 7 thousand hryvnias;
  • one of the parents or guardians will have monthly payments for childcare until the child is one year old.

A program 'YeYasla' is also being launched, where parents will have a choice between work and childcare, receiving a monthly payment. According to this:

'If they choose the first option, the state will pay 8 thousand UAH monthly. In case of choosing the second option, the payment of a single social contribution will remain for the mother/father until the child turns three.'

People's Deputy Oleksiy Honcharenko reported that the bill has the support of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.

What else you need to know

This year, parents of first-graders can receive financial support through the 'School Pack' program, which will also operate in 2026. Assistance has also been provided to children injured by the war and benefits for the education of children of war veterans.

The Ukrainian government plans to implement a number of new financial supports for families with children, including monthly payments and one-time assistance. The 'YeYasla' program is also being launched, which will allow parents to choose between work and childcare, receiving corresponding support from the state. The new program will be aimed at easing the financial burden on families and strengthening support for young parents in raising children.
