Kursk operation changed the course of the war – British expert.

British expert James Sherr believes that the successful operation of the AFU in the Kursk region of the Russian Federation demonstrated the vulnerability of Russian territory and changed the dynamics of the war. According to him, the Ukrainian military used a classic example of operational maneuver, delivering an unexpected blow to the enemy's rear. This opinion was expressed by British expert, senior fellow at the Estonian International Centre for Defense and Security, James Sherr in a publication.
«This was a classic example of operational maneuver: a bold strike through a weak spot in the enemy's rear line. Ultimately, the operation was conceived and carried out under conditions of almost complete surprise», – the message says.
Sherr emphasized that this broke a long cycle of exhausting war. He also noted that Russia suffered significant losses and made a number of strategic mistakes, including relocating elite units from the northern borders to the south, where they were defeated.
Source of success
The expert believes that Ukraine's success in the Kursk region forced Russia to relocate significant troops, which restrained their buildup in other directions and allowed Ukraine to launch successful counter-offensives.
According to British military intelligence, the expert pointed out, Russia was losing almost 1200 military personnel daily in August. It made several striking miscalculations, including relocating the 80th Arctic Brigade from the borders with Norway and Finland to the Dnieper estuary, which was defeated as its specialized skills found no application.
Edge of defeat
However, according to Sherr, for Russia to be ready for significant concessions, it must find itself on the verge of defeat.
It is recalled that the defense forces managed to reduce the assault potential of the occupiers in the Donetsk region.
