Conclave: Ukraine's ambassador to the Vatican named the 'pro-Ukrainian candidate'.

Pro-Ukrainian cardinal Kurt Koch considers the position of the Moscow Patriarchate heretical
One of the most pro-Ukrainian candidates for the papacy is Cardinal Kurt Koch. In 2022, he characterized the position of the Moscow Patriarchate as incompatible with Christian teachings. This was noted by Ukraine's ambassador to the Vatican Andrii Yurash in an interview with 'Glavkom.'
«First of all, in any church elections, it is said that the Holy Spirit governs and chooses. Therefore, any choice is ideal because it is inspired by the Holy Spirit. Regarding Cardinal Koch, he is the head of the department promoting Christian unity. In June 2022, he made unequivocal statements, which assessed the policy of the Moscow Patriarchate as contradictory to the foundations of Christian teaching, which is essentially heretical», emphasized the ambassador.
Andrii Yurash expressed gratitude to the cardinal for his position. The diplomat added: «Since then, he has not made any other statements. That is, Koch is indeed one of the most supportive of Ukraine within the entire Vatican Curia. There are several cardinals who very actively support Ukraine».
The process of electing a new Pope in the Vatican
On May 7, the cardinals began the process of electing a new Pope. The conclave included 133 cardinals from 70 countries. After the public mass in St. Peter's Basilica, they gathered in the Sistine Chapel to elect the successor to Pope Francis. During the conclave, cardinals are forbidden from communicating with others.
It was previously reported that mobile communication would be disabled within the territory of the Vatican, and military jamming devices would be used around the Sistine Chapel. All mobile phone signals will be turned off during the secret conclave.
Ukraine's ambassador to the Vatican Andrii Yurash shared his thoughts on potential successors to the Pope. In his interview with 'Glavkom', he assessed the chances of Ukrainian Cardinal Mykola Bychko to head the Catholic Church.
The views of Cardinal Kurt Koch on the Moscow Patriarchate and support for Ukrainian interests in the Vatican are significant. The election of a new Pope requires the support of various cardinals, and the opinions of representatives like Koch are crucial in this process.
