The Pension Fund of Ukraine (PFU) has established a minimally guaranteed payment for the children of deceased servicemen in cases where a pension is being granted due to the loss of a breadwinner. This payment has its own rules for determining the amount as a share of the monetary support.

In cases of death or loss of a serviceman, his family has the right to a pension due to the loss of a breadwinner. The amount of this pension payment depends on the number of children that the deceased breadwinner supported. This amount is distributed equally among the children according to Law No. 2262 'On Pension Provision for Persons Released from Military Service and Some Other Persons.'

Applying for a pension payment for children

The pension for children in connection with the loss of a breadwinner is appointed by the Pension Fund authorities. To apply, it is necessary to submit a corresponding application along with the required documents, such as the child's birth certificate, the breadwinner's death certificate, documents confirming family ties, etc.

Moreover, in 2025, the amount of pension payment for children from a serviceman-breadwinner is set at 30% to 70% of the amount of his monetary support, depending on the circumstances of the breadwinner's death. The minimum guaranteed amount of this payment cannot be less than 6,100 UAH per child.
