Kamala Harris secured the Democratic Party's nomination for president.


Kamala Harris successfully won the Democratic Party's nomination for president, the party chairman announced.
The Democratic National Committee announced that Kamala Harris had secured enough delegate votes to become the party's presidential nominee.
Kamala Harris will be the first Black woman and the first Asian American to top the ticket of a major party.
The official nomination announcement came during a virtual meeting with supporters.
Kamala Harris said she will formally accept the nomination next week, but is already pleased to know there are enough delegates supporting her nomination.
Harris's team reported raising $310 million in July, double what Trump's team raised in the same month.
Harris's campaign also reported having $377 million in cash on hand, more than the Trump campaign.
Harris's cash reserves are the largest in history at this stage of the election cycle.
