Experts explained the two-day price drop at Ukrainian gas stations: what will happen next.

Ukrainian gas stations have reduced fuel prices, but the promotion did not last long. Gas station networks offered discounts of up to 6 UAH per liter, which sparked discussions among experts and consumers.
The beginning of the price reduction was initiated by OKKO. The price of gasoline at their gas stations decreased by 5 UAH per liter, and diesel fuel by 6 UAH. Other major market players also joined the promotion: WOG, KLO, UPG, Marshal, and "BRSM".
But after just a few days, prices returned to the previous level. The average price of gasoline in the country decreased by only 32 kopecks per liter to 55.72 UAH per liter, A-95+ by 65 kopecks per liter to 58.66 UAH per liter, and diesel fuel by 5 kopecks to 51.94 UAH per liter.
Experts explain that the short-term price reduction is related to weak demand for fuel due to the war and mobilization. The market is fighting for customers with discounts.
Dmytro Leushkin, founder of Prime, notes that there is an inflated margin in the market. In particular, in Izmail, diesel fuel costs 39-40 UAH per liter, while at OKKO gas stations, it is 54-55 UAH per liter.
Oil products market expert Hennadiy Riabtsev warns that further price reductions are not expected due to rising costs and declining sales volumes. Additionally, the depreciation of the hryvnia may also affect prices.
