Barley prices are rising - why is the crop getting more expensive.

In July, barley prices continue to rise due to demand from traders and domestic consumers, reports APK-Inform.
It is noted that prices for barley are supported by positive dynamics in the export market, as well as insufficiently active supply of grain crops.
As of July 22, on the domestic grain market in Ukraine, a ton of barley is sold at a price of 9,052 UAH, according to the Tripoli.land portal. In the last eight days, prices for this crop have been unstable, with the lowest figure of 8,886 UAH per ton recorded on July 15, but then prices rose by 166 UAH.
The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine supported the introduction of a 10% duty on the export of soy and rapeseed on July 16, which may lead to an increase in prices for these agricultural crops. As explained by Ivan Tomych, head of the Union of Ukrainian Peasantry, farmers are looking for ways to export already contracted volumes of products to avoid restrictions.
There have also been mentions of rising prices for feed wheat and a possible grain shortage in 2025. It is worth noting that the agricultural sector is the main sector that provides the country with foreign currency earnings.
In July, the Ukrainian market continues to see rising prices for barley due to high demand and a shortage of grain crops. Positive dynamics in the export market and new duties on soy and rapeseed also affect the pricing situation. The agricultural sector remains an important source of foreign currency inflows for Ukraine.
